Kat Scrappiness Dies: How to make an Elegant Anniversary Card
In this video project, I made an elegant Anniversary card for my sister-in-law and her husband, using Kat Scrappiness and Simon Says Stamp products. This is a postage-style card with embossed script in the postage window openings, and a gorgeous layered flower on the front. All products used in making this project are listed below.
Measurements
A2 Card Base, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" when folded
8 1/2 x 5 1/2", Scored at 4 1/4"
Postage Frame Area: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
Inside Panel: 3 3/4 x 5"
Mat Layer: 4 x 5 1/4"
Postage Panel Frame
For the background postage panel, I wanted the outside frame to be raised up, and the window pieces to be inset into the frame. I cut three layers of the Kat Scrappiness Kat’s Essential Card Builder Dies 2 from Gina K Designs Layering Weight White Cardstock and glued all of the layers together. I used the ledge on my Scor-Buddy to line up the frames easily.
Next, I used a Marvy Silver Metallic DecoColor Marker around all of the edges of the frame so it would look like the edges were metallic (vs. cutting the layers out of silver metallic cardstock). I cut an additional frame from Kat Scrappiness Silver Faux Glitter Paper and glued that to the top of the stacked frames. Once that was set, I added the frame stack to an A2 card base made from Gina K Designs Heavyweight White cardstock.
Postage Panel Windows
I cut out an additional frame using Gina K Designs Heavyweight White Cardstock, and taped the frame border piece face down to the flat side of the embossing folder using Simon Says Stamp Very Low Tack Tape. The embossing folder is called Scribbled Letter from Spellbinders. I placed all the window cutouts face down into the open window spots, and ran the embossing folder through my Sizziz Switch die cut machine.
Once the pieces were embossed, I placed them into the postage windows using my Glue Press to adhere them to the card front. I used my Cricut Scoring tool and a Vinyl Weeder tool to make sure the pieces were pushed down to the bottom and adhered well to the card base.
I used the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Friend Stamp Set for the sentiment, using my Misti and VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink to stamp the image. Afterwards I used my Ranger Heat-It tool to dry the ink since it is a pigment ink and it stays wet longer than dye ink. I added the middle strip to the postage frame using the same method as the smaller embossed rectangles
Flower Focal Image from Kat Scrappiness
For the gorgeous floral die cut, I used the Kat Scrappiness Fine Line Flowers Die Set. To create the floral image, I layered various sizes of the die cuts on top of each other to make a full flower. I cut the layers out of the Silver Faux Glitter Paper, Simon Says Stamp Steel Cardstock, and Simon Says Stamp Silver Vellum. I added a Silver Pearl Dazzle Sticker from Paper Wishes in the center of the flower to add some sparkle and shine. Using a foam square from Scrapbook Adhesives, I added the flower to the left side of the card front.
Decorating the Inside of the Card
To decorate the inside of the card, I first cut a panel for my personal message. Next I used the large floral stamp from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Friend Stamp Set and stamped it on the left side of the panel using Distress Lost Shadow Ink. I cut a mat layer from the Silver Faux Glitter paper and adhered the pieces together with my tape runner.

Envelope to Match
For the matching envelope, I made an A2 envelope on my 1-2-3 Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers, using Spellbinders Brushed Silver Cardstock. Because the paper is shiny, and dye or pigment ink would smear on the paper, I used the Spellbinders BetterPress Black Ink to stamp on the envelope.
