Masculine Birthday Card: Spellbinders Burst Mode Stencil with BetterPress
In today’s video project, I created a second project using the Stencil of the Month for March 2026 called Burst Mode, and this one is a masculine birthday card. I used the Altenew Cool Summer Nights Ink Quad Collection for the stenciling. For the sentiment, I used the Happy Birthday from the new Spellbinders Upright Italic Everyday Sentiments Collection. All products used in today’s card tutorial project are listed below. Spellbinders sent me this stencil and BetterPress plate to have a play with, and I am grateful for the opportunity!
Club Subscription Information
Spellbinders offers a wide range of clubs: large die, small die, stitch die, BetterPress/Foiling, 3D embossing folder, 2D embossing folder, stencil, and stamp/die! There is also a club crate offered, where you will receive all of the club products for the month, plus bonus limited edition products!
Date Details
From the 1st to the 5th of the month, current club subscribers are able to go in and add/change/cancel their club selection for that month.
On the 6th of the month, the clubs open to current non-subscribers, and you can sign up for whatever club you want and receive that month’s current club offerings. On the 27th, club registrations close, and the products are sent to club members. The club products are offered at a discount.
On the 10th of the next month, the previous month’s club offerings are added to the Spellbinders online store. If they are sold out, they will be added when they come back in stock.

Creating the Stenciled Background
For this card, I added a panel of Gina K Designs White Heavyweight cardstock to my Simon Says Stamp stencil mat and used the first four stencil layers with Altenew Cool Summer Nights ink quad: Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Dusk, and Desert Night.
Sentiment, Mat Layer, Card Base
For the sentiment, I used the new Happy Birthday BetterPress plate from the PA Scribe Upright Italic Everyday Sentiments Collection. At first, I used the Lisa Horton Crafts Coastline metallic ink with the BetterPress plate, but it didn’t show up enough on the card front. Next I used the Lisa Horton Crafts Silver Shine metallic ink, and pressed that a few times. That showed up much better over the stenciled panel.
After I added the sentiment, I went back and used the last stencil on the card front, using Lisa Horton Crafts Verdigris and Coastline metallic inks with jumbo daubers to add the dots to the panel.
For the mat layer, I used Spellbinders Brushed Silver Cardstock to bring out the silver on the sentiment. I added the stenciled panel to the silver mat, then added those layers to an A2 card base made from Spellbinders Oceanside cardstock.
Inside of Card
For the inside of the card, I used the dot stencil layer with the leftover Altenew ink on my blending brush to add some interest to the top-left of the panel. I added a sentiment from the Julie Hickey Sentiment Medley A6 Stamp Set.
