Emboss…then BetterPress?? Using the new Spellbinders Block Print Leo Plate
In today’s video project, I created a beautiful card using the new Spellbinders Block Print Leo BetterPress Plate Set, with the Wishing Stars Embossing Folder. Did you know you can BetterPress on top of embossed paper? You can! All products I used in this project are listed below.
Measurements:
A2 Card Base: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
8 1/2 x 5 1/2", Score at 4 1/4"
Front Panel: 4 x 5 1/4", then cut down to 3 3/4 x 5"
Mat Layer: 3 7/8 x 5 1/8"
Inside Panel: 3 3/4 x 5"
Spellbinders Block Print Leo BetterPress Plates
Spellbinders sent me the Block Print Leo BetterPress Plates to have a play with this month. I am a Leo, and I love purple, so I thought why not combine the two?
I first cut a panel from Spellbinders Violet cardstock, and embossed it with the Falling Stars Embossing Folder. Once that was complete, I lined up the Leo and date plates on the embossed piece, using one of my BetterPress hacks. I used Lisa Horton Crafts Natural Pearl ink to stamp twice with the BetterPress system, but the ink was too light. I switched to Lisa Horton Crafts Silver Shine Metallic Ink and that worked perfectly!
Putting Together the Card Front
After the BetterPressing was finished, I trimmed the card panel down a little bit, and then added Altenew Grape Agate ink around the edges of the panel to give a spotlight look. I then added some Vivant Silver Thread around the bottom of the panel and secured it with double-sided adhesive tape on the back.
Using Scrapbook.com 1 inch wide, 1mm thick black foam tape, I adhered the panel to a mat layer cut from Spellbinders Brushed Silver cardstock. Then I added that to a Spellbinders Raven cardstock card base with tape runner.
Inside of Card
To decorate the inside of the card, I first used the Wishing Stars Embossing Folder along the left edge of the panel, and then ink blended along the left side with the Grape Agate ink to make the stars pop.
