Create a Stunning Snowflake Card with Oxide Ink Blending
In this video project, I made a gorgeous Holiday snowflake card using Distress Oxides in Milled Lavender, Wilted Violet, and Villainous Potion. I overlayed the background with the Concord & 9th Snowflake Season Border Die Set. All products used in making this project are listed below.

A2 Card Base: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"

Distress Oxide Ink Blending
On this card, I wanted to create a lovely purple ombre background. I used a panel of Neenah Classic Crest 110lb, and ink blended it with Distress Oxides in Milled Lavender, Wilted Violet, and Villainous Potion.
Concord & 9th Snowflake Border
The Concord & 9th Snowflake Season Border Die Set includes a gorgeous snowflake border, piece as well as separate snowflake dies. I added Altenew Double-sided Adhesive sheets to the back of Simon Says Stamp Matte Silver cardstock, and then cut out the border and snowflakes using my Mini Empress die-cut machine.
I used my new Glassboard Studios MagInk tray to hold my snowflake dies after die cutting. Placing the dies in a magnetic tray really helps to keep them together on your work surface and makes it harder to misplace them.
Building the Card Front
Using the snowflake border die cut, Papertrey Ink‘s Rounded Rectangles Stitched Die Collection, and the Tim Holtz The Poinsettia stamp set, I placed the elements on the card front to figure out a layout for the design.
Once I had settled on a layout I liked, I added the snowflake border to the left side of the ink-blended panel, and then used the largest rounded rectangle to cut out the background piece. I used my Sizzix Chrome Precision Base Plate with my Sizzix Switch Machine to ensure a clean cut through the panel and snowflake layer.
Finishing up the Card Front
Once the background panel was set, I wanted to add a heat-embossed sentiment to the card front. I used my Mini Misti stamping platform with the Christmas Greetings message and Simon Says Stamp Embossing Ink to stamp it onto the panel. I used Villainous Potion Embossing Glaze and melted it with my Chandler Heat Tool.
Once the card front was finished, I used Distress Spritz in Wilted Violet to add some shimmer and shine. I used a microfiber cloth to buff the Spritz off the silver cardstock and the embossed sentiment.
Putting the Snowflake Card Together
I made the A2 card base out of Spellbinders Fairy Tale cardstock, and used my We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper to round the card base corners. I added Scrapbook.com foam tape to the background panel, added some glue to the foam tape for some wiggle time, and then added the panel to the card base.
Inside of the Card
For the inside of the card, I cut a rectangle from Neenah Classic Crest 110lb. cardstock using the Rounded Rectangles die set. I added that to the card base using my tape runner, then added a few of the die-cut snowflakes to the top left corner.
I had one snowflake left over, so I added it to the back of the card for a fun detail.
