49 and Market Ink Pads!! Swatching out all the new gorgeous colors!
For this video project, I unboxed and swatched out the new 49 and Market ink pads from Ranger, gave an ink smooshing demonstration, and took a look at the inks alongside the Flower Emporium paper collection.
The colors included in this video include: Pink Sands, Watermelon, Strawberry Pie, Just Peachy, Daffodil, Mint Chill, Green Jean, Rainforest, Arctic Blitz, Summer Sky, Lavender Kisses, Cappuccino, Salted Caramel, Fossil, and Off the Rails. All products shown in the video are listed below.
49 and Market Ink Pad Properties
49 and Market has provided some important information about these new inks. The ink pads are a different formulation from other ink pads you may have in your collection. They are highly pigmented, water reactive, and are great for blending. The inks are designed to be vibrant and maintain their color integrity. They react with water, but don’t have the same oxidation effect as Distress Inks. They act more like a traditional watercolor ink. The ink pads are made out of felt which allows for a crisp stamped image, and there are re-inkers available for the ink pads.
Color Swatches
I made the tags for the swatches using Scrapbook.com‘s 6 x 8″ Mixed Media Paper, cut into 2 x 3″ sections, and made eight sections from each sheet of paper. Then I used Spellbinder‘s 3-in-1 Tag Punch to cut the tag shape into the top of the pieces.

I used my Brother Label Machine to add the color names to each tag, then stamped each color on the corresponding tag using my Mini Misti stamping tool and Concord & 9th‘s Playful Patterns Stamp Set.
Comparison with 49 and Market’s Flower Emporium Collection
The inks match perfectly with 49 and Market’s papers, especially the newer collections.
49 and Market Ink Pad Smooshing Test
I wanted to see how the inks would perform to make an ink smooshed background. I first did a couple of layers of Arctic Blitz, drying between layers to get that spotted look. Then I added some Fossil ink for contrast. The inks layered beautifully and will make fabulous backgrounds with whatever shade you choose.
