Create an Eclipse Butterfly Card with 49 and Market
In this video project, I made an eclipse butterfly card using the 49 and Market Color Swatch: Lavender Paper Collection and the Hot Off the Press Butterflies & Hearts Die Set. This technique is really cool as the butterfly image blends right into the background. The products used in this project are listed below.
From the Color Swatch: Lavender paper collection, I cut two copies of the same patterned paper at 12 x 5 1/2″. On one of the sheets, I figured out what part of the paper I wanted to be visible on the card front, and trimmed down that sheet to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2″, then scored at 4 1/4″ to make the card base. I lined up the other sheet on top of the card base, and used it as a guide for the placement of the butterfly die and Hello sentiment die. The butterfly is from the Hot of the Press Butterflies & Hearts die set, and the sentiment is the Hello Scripted from Birch Press Design.
I cut out the butterfly and Hello from the patterned paper, and also cut out two more Hellos from Accent Opaque White Cardstock. Then I glued the two white layers behind the patterned paper Hello for an eclipse technique look. Using the die cut piece of patterned paper as a guide, I glued the butterfly and Hello on the front of the card, carefully matching the pattern in the paper to the pattern on the layered die cuts.
For the inside of the card, I cut a panel of Accent Opaque White cardstock to 3 3/4 x 5″. I added a piece of trimmed patterned paper to the bottom of the panel for some added interest. Then I added a 49 and Market Color Swatch: Lavender butterfly rub-on to the top of the panel.
