Create a Stunning Mother’s Day Gatefold Card

In this video project, I made my mom a Mother’s Day card using the gatefold fun fold layout. I used the 49 and Market One Perfect Day Collection, and three Gina K Designs die sets to make this card: Master Layouts 13, Single Stitched Circles, and Princess Circle.

Measurements
Card Base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", Score at 2 1/8", flip paper, and score at 2 1/8"

Mat Layer (2): 1 3/4 x 5 1/8"
Top Layer (2): 1 5/8 x 5"

Circles:
Top: 2 7/8"
Princess Circle Die: 3 3/4"
Bottom: 3 1/4"

The 49 and Market One Perfect Day Collection includes many different products. The ones I used on this project are the 12×12″ Collection Paper Pack, 12×12″ Solids Paper Pack, Laser Cut Wildflowers, Washi Tape Sheets, and Rub ons. There are also ephemera packs, epoxy stickers, and laser cut elements.

I cut the card base from a sheet from the 49 and Market Solids Paper Pack to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2″, and scored it at 2 1/8″. I then flipped the paper around and scored the other end, also at 2 1/8″. I folded the gatefold “doors” to the middle and burnished the edges with a bone folder.

Using Master Layouts 13, I cut the shadow layers from the Solids Paper Pack, and cut the top stitched layers from the Patterned Paper Collection Pack. I cut the belly band, then the large circle and small circle (using the Gina K Designs Single Stitched Circle Dies) from the Solids Pack as well. The Gina K Designs Princess Circle die was cut from Simon Says Stamp Shimmer Vellum.

Making the Medallion Focal Image

I made the medallion for the front of the card by stacking the large circle, then the Princess Circle, and then the smaller circle on top. I stamped the small circle with a sentiment from the Mother’s Day Sentiments Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink. I added some 49 and Market Laser Cut Wildflowers to the top of the circle, as well as a butterfly rub on transfer towards the bottom. I added some of the Washi Tape Strips to the inside of the card, as well as a rub on transfer and another Papertrey Ink Sentiment.

I folded the belly band around the card and secured it using Velcro Thin Clear Fasteners. I then attached the finished medallion to the front band. This is what the belly band looks like when it is open:

Hope you enjoyed this card project!
