Gina K Designs Gorgeous Ornate Frame, Easy Watercoloring Technique
In this video project, I made an elegant watercolor card using the Gina K Designs Thankful Magnolias Stamp and Die Set, with the Ornate Frame die from Day 1 of the Gina K Designs 12 Days of Christmas Box. All products used in making this project are listed below.

Gina K Designs Ornate Frame
The Ornate Frame was part of the 12 Days of Christmas Box from Gina K Designs, and the frame was revealed on Day 1. I have a video series where I do a daily unboxing of the Gina K Designs 12 Days of Christmas Box and share the contents with my viewers. I am also making projects with the contents, and will post them on my blog and in the 12 Days of Christmas playlist on YouTube. I die cut three Ornate Frame dies from Cadet Blue cardstock and glued them together to make a sturdy frame. I used my Sizzix Chrome Precision Base Plate in my die-cutting sandwich to help get a clean cut, and weeded out all the bits using the Spellbinders Tool in One brush and die pick. Clean up was a breeze using my Glassboard Studio CraftCatcher! No lost paper bits under my glass mat!
Thankful Magnolias Stamp & Die Set
For this card, I stamped the Thankful Magnolias stamp on Gina K Designs Heavyweight White cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink. Prior to stamping, I prepped the paper with the Simon Says Stamp Anti-Static powder tool. After the image was stamped, I poured Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Powder over the image and heat set it with my Chandler Heat Tool.
Watercoloring with Ink Pads
It is very easy to watercolor using ink pads! I added my ink colors to my glass mat: Cadet Blue for the petals and In the Navy for shading, Light Spruce as the leaf base and Medium Spruce for the shading. Then I added some water to the ink using my waterbrush, and painted in each area. I love heat embossing a stamped image prior to watercoloring, as it helps the ink stay in the right spot.
After I finished watercoloring the image, I dried it with my Ranger Heat-it tool, and then die-cut out the image using the coordinating die.
Building the Card Front
I used Master Layouts 1 to cut out a panel of White Heavyweight cardstock and the mat layer from Black Onyx cardstock. I added these layers together with a tape runner and then added them to the A2 card base. The card case was made from In the Navy cardstock.
Next, I added the Ornate Frame to the white panel using glue, and placed the Thankful Magnolias die cut into the frame window.
Inside of the Card
For the inside of the card, I cut a panel using Gina K Designs Heavyweight White Cardstock with Master Layouts 14 to get the stitching design on the edge of the panel. Then I stamped the large floral image from the Thankful Magnolias stamp set with Soft Stone ink on the upper left of the panel. When I decide who to send this card to later on, I may add a sentiment to the inside of the card.
