Reusing a Paper Bag to Make a Beautiful Sympathy Card
One of my viewers requested to see a card project using the paper bag packaging from a Simon Says Stamp card kit, and this was the first idea I had for a card design.
In this card project, I made a vintage-looking mini slimline Sympathy Card using the Gina K Designs Sketched Roses Stamp Set, VersaFine Clair Pinecone Ink, Spellbinders Alabaster Cardstock, and a paper bag from a Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I cut out the paper bag with a deckle-edged mini slimline die from the Lisa Horton Crafts Swirling Daisy Die Set. For the inside of the card, I used the Simon Says Stamp Vintage Garden Stamp Set for the sentiment and floral image.

Heat Embossing with the Sketched Roses Stamp Set
I placed the Spellbinders Alabaster cardstock panel in my Misti stamping tool, and brushed my Simon Says Stamp anti-static powder tool over the panel. I stamped the Gina K Designs Sketched Roses image onto the panel using VersaFine Clair Ink in Pinecone, and then poured Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Powder over the image. Since VersaFine Clair is a pigment ink, it will stay wet long enough for the embossing powder to stick to it. I used my Chandler heat tool to melt the embossing powder until the image was shiny and raised.
Paper Bag Panel
I trimmed out a section from the paper bag packaging, and die cut it with the Lisa Horton Crafts Swirling Daisy Die Set. This set has many sizes of deckle-edge rectangles, along with a whimsical daisy panel.
Next I crumpled up the paper bag panel, and then smoothed it back out. I added Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo around the edges of the Sketched Roses panel, the paper bag panel, and the card base to give them a vintage look.
Using Simon Says Stamp Craft Glue, I added the paper bag panel to the card base, and then added the stamped panel on top of the paper bag panel using tape runner.
Inside of the Card
For the inside of the card, I used a gorgeous stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called Vintage Garden to add the sentiment and the floral image, using the Pinecone ink once more. I added the panel inside the card using temporary adhesive, and will add permanent adhesive to the back of the panel once I have written out the card. I tend to mess up when writing the card, and it’s easier for me replace just the inside panel if I need to.
Envelope for Mini Slimline Card
I also made a coordinating 5 1/2 x 3 1/2″ mini slimline envelope for this card using the 1-2-3 Punch Board from We R Memory Keepers, Gina K Designs Kraft Cardstock, and the Simon Says Stamp Vintage Garden Stamp Set on the back flap and envelope front.
