Center Flap Fun Fold Cards Three Ways: Wednesday Workshop Series
In this episode of my Wednesday Workshop Series, I created three Center Flap Fun Fold Cards in different styles with lots of fun design options.
For the first card, I made an easy and simple Birthday Card with Altenew Andromeda Cardstock and Boho Rose: Lavender scrapbook paper. On the second card, I used Simon Says Stamp and Concord & 9th products for a sweet Valentine card. For the third card, I used the PhotoPlay Birthday Bash Collection to create a masculine birthday card. All products used in today’s card tutorial projects are listed below.
Wednesday Workshop | Sketches and Fun Fold Cards Series
This project is part of my ‘Wednesday Workshop | Sketches and Fun Fold Cards’ Series. This series used to be published on Saturdays, but I have moved it to Wednesday for some mid-week card inspiration! I have a playlist on YouTube with all the past episodes if you’d like to check them out.
In this series, I find a card sketch on the internet and make a card (or more) using it. If making more than one card, the first one will stick closely to the sketch, while the others will have slight changes or demonstrate different techniques. I have added fun fold cards and one sheet wonders into the mix as well, so we have lots of creative options!
Measurements

A2 Card Base: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"
8 1/2 x 5 1/2", Score at 4 1/4"
Cut up to score line on front of card base, 1 1/4" in from each side
Leaves three flap sections: 1 1/4", 3", 1 1/4"
Assembling Card #1- Birthday Card
Card #1 Additional Measurements:
Patterned Paper Panel: 4 3/4" x 4"
Cut off 1" from left and right side
Leaves three pieces: 1" x 4", 2 3/4" x 4", 1" x 4"
Inside Panel: 2 3/4 x 4"
I cut out the card base from Altenew Andromeda cardstock, and followed the card-cutting measurements to create the center flap card design. Next, I cut apart a patterned paper panel from the Boho Rose: Lavender scrapbook paper to add to the front flaps. I used tape runner to adhere the side flaps down to the card base, then attached the patterned paper strips on top of the left and right flaps.
I flipped over the large patterned paper panel and used the other side of the paper to decorate the center flap. The tape runner would not stick to the back of the paper, so I attached it with double-sided tape instead.
For the sentiment, I used the Gina K Designs Sketched Roses Stamp Set with Altenew Andromeda ink. I cut the sentiment from Gina K Designs Heavyweight White cardstock using Master Layouts 3, and the circle mat layer from Pink & Main Heavyweight Vellum. The flower was die cut from Andromeda cardstock, which was backed with adhesive before die-cutting, using my Mini Xyron Sticker Machine. The flower is from the Tim Holtz Vault Wildflowers Die Set.
For the inside of the card, I cut a panel from Gina K Designs Layering Weight White cardstock, and stamped the top left of the panel with the Altenew Fresh Bouquet stamp set in Andromeda ink.

Assembling Card #2 – Valentine’s Day Card

Die Cut Frame: 2 5/8 x 3 7/8"
Mat Layer: 2 7/8 x 4 1/8"
Vellum Strips: 1 x 4" (x2)
Mat Strips: 1 1/8 x 4 1/8" (x2)
Inside Panel: 2 5/8 x 3 7/8"
Inside Mat: 2 7/8 x 4 1/8"
I cut the card base from Gina K Designs Kraft cardstock, then cut the card base flaps according to the directions. Next, I used tape runner to adhere the skinny flaps down to the card base.
Using Gina K Designs Cranberry cardstock, I cut mat layers for all three flaps. I cut a 2 x 4″ piece of Simon Says Stamp Ice Vellum and embossed it with the Simon Says Stamp Heart Cookies Embossing Folder. After that was complete, I cut the embossed panel in half, and then ran the strips through my Mini Xyron Sticker Machine to add adhesive to the vellum. I added the vellum strips to the Cranberry strip mats, then used tape runner to add them to the skinny flaps.
Next, I cut out the two layers of the Simon Says Stamp Flourish Heart die set in Altenew Sandy Blush cardstock and Gina K Designs Cranberry, and attached the layers with glue. Using the Simon Says Stamp Eyelet Layer Frames die set, I cut out a frame panel for the center flap from Gina K Designs Ivory cardstock. I stamped a sentiment from the Concord & 9th You Are the Best stamp set onto Sandy Blush cardstock, using Gina K Designs Cranberry ink, and then cut it out using the coordinating die set.
I added the frame to the mat layer and then adhered those to the center flap. Using glue, I added the Flourish Heart die cut towards the top of the frame, and added the sentiment towards the bottom of the frame.
For the inside of the card, I created a mat layer from Sandy Blush cardstock and a panel from Ivory cardstock. I stamped the sentiment and heart using the You Are the Best stamp set in Pale Mauve and Amethyst inks, from the Altenew Sugarplums ink quad collection.
Card #3 – Masculine Birthday Card

Cut-apart: 2 5/8 x 3 7/8"
Mat Layer: 2 3/4 x 4"
Strips: 1 x 4" (x2)
Inside Panel: 2 3/4 x 4"
Inside Mat: 2 7/8 x 4 1/8"
For this card, I cut the card base from Gina K Designs In the Navy cardstock, cut the flaps according to the instructions, and adhered the skinny flaps to the card base.
I used the PhotoPlay Birthday Bash collection for the patterned paper and stickers inside the card. I trimmed two strips of the green patterned paper and added them to the skinny card flaps. For the center panel, I cut a mat layer of the striped pattern and layered a cut-apart from the collection on top of that.
On the inside of the card, I cut a mat layer from the striped paper, and a panel from Gina K Designs White cardstock. I added two stickers from the sticker sheet to decorate the inside panel.
