Using a Die to Make a Fun Fold Card: Wednesday Workshop Series
In this episode of my Wednesday Workshop Series, I created a fun fold card using a die, easy peasy! The Tri-fold Surprise Card Cutting Die from Paper Wishes/Hot Off the Press did all the hard work. And then I got to decorate the fun card base with the 49 and Market Nostalgic Memories Collection. All products used in today’s card tutorial projects are listed below.
Wednesday Workshop | Sketches and Fun Fold Cards Series
This project is part of my ‘Wednesday Workshop | Sketches and Fun Fold Cards’ Series. This series used to be published on Saturdays, but I have moved it to Wednesday for some mid-week card inspiration! I have a playlist on YouTube with all the past episodes if you’d like to check them out.
In this series, I find a card sketch on the internet and make a card (or more) using it. If making more than one card, the first one will stick closely to the sketch, while the others will have slight changes or demonstrate different techniques. I have added fun fold cards and one sheet wonders into the mix as well, so we have lots of creative options!

49 and Market Nostalgic Memories Collection
I picked out a piece of the 12 x 12″ Nostalgic Memories patterned paper, and used the Paper Wishes/Hot Off the Press die to cut out the card base. This die places all the score lines and cut lines into the card base for super easy folding!
Then came the fun part! I used the Nostalgic Memories Laser Cut Florals and Ephemera to decorate the card base. I added a couple of flourish pieces to the front corners, then popped up the frame on the front using thin Altenew foam tape, and positioned the rose laser cut behind it.
I added some Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges of the heart laser cut, placed a piece of the washi strips pack across the back part of the card base, and then added the heart on top of that. Next, I added a butterfly on top of the heart with glue, and bent up its wings for additional dimension.
Inside (Back) of the Card
For the back of the card, I added a couple of butterflies from the Laser Cut Florals pack. I used a piece vellum from the Studio Light Shades of Brown Vellum pad, and cut it with my Tim Holtz Deckle Edge Trimmer to add some detail to the edges of the strip. I glued a leftover piece of the patterned paper on top of the vellum strip, then added that to the back of the card base.
