One Sketch, One Swap, Two Cards! | Altenew Frozen Moments | Wednesday Workshop
In this episode of my Wednesday Workshop Series, I created two cards using BYSHC Card Sketch #66, using Altenew products. I embossed one panel with the Altenew Organic Linen Embossing Folder, and stamped another panel with the flowers from the new Altenew Frozen Moments Craft Your Life Project Kit.
I cut circles out of the panels using the LDRS Pinpoint Circle Dies, and then swapped the elements to create the cards. The sentiments are from the new Altenew Creative Label stamp and set, and I used the Moonlit Twilight collection for my project’s color palette. All products used in today’s card tutorial projects are listed below.
Wednesday Workshop | Sketches and Fun Fold Cards Series
This project is part of my ‘Wednesday Workshop | Sketches and Fun Fold Cards’ Series. This series used to be published on Saturdays, but I have moved it to Wednesday for some mid-week card inspiration! I have a playlist on YouTube with all the past episodes if you’d like to check them out.
In this series, I find a card sketch on the internet and make a card (or more) using it. If making more than one card, the first one will stick closely to the sketch, while the others will have slight changes or demonstrate different techniques. I have added fun fold cards and one sheet wonders into the mix as well, so we have lots of creative options!
Card Sketch Information
For these cards, I used card sketch #66 from BYSHC. The acronym stands for Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers. Be sure to check out their blog for more card sketches and inspiration. They also have a Facebook Group where cardmakers can share their projects.

A2 Card Base: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2"

Front White Panels: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" (2), Cut down to 3 3/4 x 5" after stamping/embossing

Cutting the Circles
For the card panels, I wanted the circles cut in the same position on both panels. I stacked them together and then die cut them with one of the dies from the LDRS Pinpoint Circles set. It did not cut through the second panel, but that is fine because it left an imprint in the cardstock, and it was easy to lock the die into that impressed circle and then cut it out.
Creating the Panels
After die cutting the circles, I taped the pieces back into the panels using Easy-See tape, on the back side of the panels. It is important to use very low-tack tape for this step, especially on the panel that will be embossed. The tape can embed into the cardstock after going through the die cut machine, and using a low-tack tape makes it easier to separate the pieces.
Once the pieces were taped back together, I ran one panel through the Altenew Organic Linen Embossing Folder. For the other panel, I used my Altenew StampWheel and Glacier Iris ink to stamp a collage of flowers from the Frozen Moments stamp set onto the panel. After that, I removed the tape from the backs of the panels and swapped the inner pieces to the other panel.
Putting Together the Card
I added Altenew Foam Tape to the back of the floral pieces, using the 1″ and 1/4″ wide tapes, with 1/16″ loft. This adds a little lift and dimension to the pieces without it being too much.
Next, I added the floral “frame” to a Glacier Iris cardstock mat, using Gina K Designs Connect Matte glue on the foam tape to give me a little wiggle room. Then I added the embossed semi-circle into its spot using glue. This gives a reverse eclipse technique look to the card front.
For the other card, I added the embossed “frame” to the Glacier Iris cardstock mat using glue, and then added the floral semi-circle into its spot, adding a bit of glue on the foam tape for some wiggle room.
Once the pieces were attached to the mats, I added the panels to the Altenew Pure Graphite card bases using tape runner.
Sentiments and Decorating with Enamel Dots
For the sentiments, I used the Altenew Creative Labels stamp set to stamp out the Hello and Thank You stamps in Dreamy Periwinkle ink. Once that was complete, I used the coordinating dies to cut the images out. I made templates to help me line up the dies correctly, as they cut very close to the images. I adhered the sentiments using glue, and then added some Moonlit Twilight Enamel Dots around the sentiments for some added interest. I love how these match perfectly with the inks and cardstock!
Inside of the Card
For the inside of the card, I stamped one of the floral images from the Frozen Moments stamp set using Celestial Mist ink. Then I used a tiny stamp on each from the Creative Labels Stamp Set, with Glacier Iris ink.
