Easy Mother’s Day Cards, Stack Cut Shuffle Technique
In this video project, I made four easy Mother’s Day cards using the Stack Cut Shuffle Technique with the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Meadow Collection Kit. All products used for this project are listed below.
Measurements
A2 Card Base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2", Score at 4 1/4"
Patterned Paper (4): 3 3/4 x 5"
Skinny Strip: Cut at 1 1/4", turn and cut at 3 1/4"
(End result: 1 1/4 x 3 1/4", 1 1/4 x 1 3/4")
Wider Strip: Turn and cut at 2 1/4"
(End result: 2 1/2 x 2 1/4", 2 1/2 x 2 3/4")
Mat Layer: 4 x 5 1/4"
Inside Panel: 3 3/4 x 5"
Stacking the four patterned papers together, I cut the papers at 1 1/4″ on the short side, then turned the skinny strip and cut it at 3 1/4″. Taking the wider strip and turning it, I cut it at 2 1/4″. This left me with four assorted patterned rectangles.
Stack Cut Shuffle Technique
Then it was time to make rectangle “packages”. Patterned Paper Stack #1, leave as it is. Stack #2, move top paper to the back. Stack #3, move the top two papers to the back. Stack #4, move three papers to the back; the original bottom piece should now be on top of the 4th stack. I went in order and took the top layer from each stack, and placed those rectangles on a mat layer. I did the same for the rest of the layers in each stack until I had four packages of rectangles, each one having only one piece of each different patterned paper on it.
I glued the rectangles for each package on a mat layer cut from Altenew Andromeda cardstock, making sure to have equal spacing on all sides. Using Spellbinders Cream cardstock, I cut sentiment labels using the LDRS Creative Mixed Postage Rectangle Die Set. I batch stamped the “Hello, Beautiful” sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Mother’s Day Sentiments stamp set with Altenew Midnight Violet ink on each label.
To finish each card, I added the sentiment label to the card front, and added a Simple Stories Simple Vintage Flower Bits die cut near the label. I attached some Simon Says Stamp Lilac Confetti Embellishments to add sparkle to the card front, and then glued the card front panels to the Neenah Desert Storm card bases.
Decorating the Inside of the Card
I cut inside card panels from the same Spellbinders Cream cardstock, then batch stamped them using the “Happy Mother’s Day” stamp from Papertrey Ink’s Pro Stamper’s Box: March 2024. Next I applied a Simple Stories Butterflies Rub-on to each panel to add interest to the inside of the card.
